Data we use
Necessary device-local data includes language, cart contents, reading progress, and consent choice. A guest can separately choose to remember contact and delivery details on that device for 90 days; this is off by default and should not be used on a shared device. With personalization consent, a random anonymous ID and limited recent activity, including the page language (English or Arabic), may be stored. Signed-in customers can see their Shopify orders and suggestions for the next available books based on those purchases; this does not add their order history to our recommendation database. Live orders require customer name, phone, address, order items, and operational status data.
Why and where
Data is used to operate the cart, understand store performance, remember preferences, provide recommendations, process Shopify orders, verify imported-order payments, arrange Bosta delivery, prevent abuse, keep customer support records, and meet legal or accounting duties. Only the minimum needed data should be shared with each service provider.
- Never send an InstaPay PIN, OTP, password, or full bank credentials.
- A payment reference may be used to match a transfer to an import order.
- Payment proof images are stored privately, stripped of embedded image metadata, available only through a confidential staff review link, and deleted after 90 days.
Anonymous store-performance totals
When store measurement is enabled, Comic Stop counts selected actions such as search results, filter use, Easy Start completion, product views, cart changes, and checkout starts in daily totals. These totals do not contain a visitor, session, customer, or device identifier; an IP address, page URL, referrer, or raw search phrase; or contact and payment details. They are separate from the optional recommendation profile and expire after 12 months. Optional Cloudflare Web Analytics may also provide aggregate page-view and performance measurements without cookies, local storage, or fingerprinting; it remains disabled unless Comic Stop configures it.
Choice and rights
You can refuse or withdraw browsing-history personalization without losing normal shopping access. The data-preferences page clears the anonymous recommendation profile and local recommendation activity. Signed-in purchase suggestions come from your Shopify orders while you use your account; you can shop as a guest instead. Retention and launch blockers
Remembered guest checkout details, recommendation events, and private InstaPay proof images expire after 90 days. An anonymous recommendation profile is removed after 180 days without activity, and anonymous daily store-performance totals expire after 12 months. Shopify order records may need a different accounting or legal retention period. Privacy contact details, business identity, processor terms, incident response, and the final Egypt legal review remain launch blockers.
